A gang tricked 25-30 Indian youths with promises of good jobs in Thailand but smuggled them to Laos, where they were forced to work in a fraudulent call center targeting Europe, US, and Canada. Mumbai Police filed an FIR based on Siddharth Yadav's complaint. Yadav, 23, managed to return with embassy help. This isn't new; in 2022, 130 Indians fell victim to a similar scam, forced into cybercrime in Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia. Yadav, a hotel management graduate, sought a chef job through a relative in Vile Parle. Investigations by the Crime Branch are underway.
