Children were among the many people brought ashore in Dover, Kent, after crossing the English Channel, less than a week since the highest number of migrant arrivals was recorded for 2024. Border Force vessels arrived at the Kent port carrying large groups of people, with young children seen wrapped in blankets and supported by staff. So far this year, 4,306 people have crossed the Channel, compared to 3,770 by the same date last year. Last Wednesday marked the busiest day on record for 2024, with 514 people making the journey in 10 boats.
