SBI Denies Disclosure of Electoral Bonds SOP, Cites 'Commercial Confidence'

In response to an RTI query, the State Bank of India (SBI) declined to reveal its standard operating procedure (SOP) for the sale and redemption of electoral bonds, citing exemption under "commercial confidence". Anjali Bhardwaj, a transparency activist, criticized the move, stating it undermines transparency, especially after the Supreme Court's ruling to disclose electoral bond details. The court had scrapped the scheme, ordering disclosure of donors and recipients. SBI's refusal comes despite the court's directive to furnish all bond details to the Election Commission, including purchaser names and purchase dates.
