UK Begins Detaining Migrants for Rwanda Deportation Flights

In preparation for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's immigration policy, British authorities have initiated the detention of migrants for potential deportation to Rwanda within the next nine to 11 weeks. The move follows the approval of a law allowing asylum seekers to be sent to Rwanda if they enter Britain without permission. With over 7,500 migrants arriving in England from France this year, the government aims to deter dangerous Channel crossings. However, human rights groups plan legal challenges against the policy, citing concerns over human rights violations and the potential impact on vulnerable individuals.
