Manipur CM Biren Singh said there has been no exchange of fire and peace was being restored over the past 1-1.5 months, until the recent incident where a Meitei girl and boy went missing since July 3rd. The case was handed to CBI on August 28th after failed efforts to trace them. A viral video surfaced showing the bodies of the missing youths, which Singh condemned as a highly condemnable crime by Kuki militants. He stated Union Home Minister Amit Shah called him and is sending a CBI team to ensure the culprits are given maximum punishment. Singh promised the people of Manipur that the government will ensure justice. He termed the killings of the youths as sad and highly condemnable, disrupting the return of peace to the state over the past month and a half.
