The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) reports that the primary maternity hospital in Gaza's Rafah has halted admissions due to escalating conflict between Hamas and Israeli troops on the city's outskirts. The Al Helal Al Emirati Maternity Hospital, previously handling 85 out of 180 daily births in Gaza, faces closure as Israel threatens a major assault on Rafah. Around 10,000 Palestinians have fled the area since Monday. With limited delivery beds, the hospital served as a vital birthing center, but alternatives are being coordinated by humanitarian partners and the Ministry of Health.
