Spain has announced it will no longer allow ships carrying arms to Israel to dock at its ports, in a bid to promote peace in the Middle East. The country's foreign minister, José Manuel Albares, made the announcement after a ship carrying 27 tonnes of explosives from India to Haifa was refused entry at the Cartagena port. This marks a new policy for Spain, which will systematically reject such stopovers. The move aims to reduce the flow of weapons to the region and promote peace instead. The decision was made after the ship requested to dock on May 21.
