Geoffrey Kitchen, a 73-year-old retired insurance professional from Thornbury, Gloucestershire, died after severe turbulence hit his Singapore Airlines flight. Kitchen was traveling with his wife, Linda, to Australia for a six-week holiday. Known for his passion for amateur dramatics, Kitchen founded the Thornbury Musical Theatre Group and recently campaigned to reopen Armstrong Hall for local productions. Friends and neighbors remembered him as a clever, funny, and deeply caring performer. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has been contacted for comment on the incident. Kitchen leaves behind a son and a daughter.
