Former world chess champion Garry Kasparov may face criminal charges in Moscow for violating Russia's "foreign agent" law, according to TASS news agency. Kasparov, a vocal Kremlin critic who left Russia a decade ago fearing persecution, could face up to two years in prison or a fine if charged. Russian authorities claim there is "every reason" for the charges. Kasparov was labeled a foreign agent after President Putin's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. The law, criticized by the EU and the US, targets individuals with foreign support engaging in political activities in Russia. Kasparov's office has not commented.
