In Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh, three members of the Vishwakarma family were killed when a speeding Audi car struck their motorcycle from behind near Kosta village on the Rewa–Prayagraj highway. The victims — 55-year-old Bhagwat Vishwakarma, his son Shivam Vishwakarma, and a woman relative Sheetal Vishwakarma — were out distributing wedding invitation cards for an upcoming marriage on February 24 when the crash occurred. The impact mangled the bike and threw them off, killing them on the spot. The Audi driver was detained, and the vehicle seized. A violent stabbing incident at a medical college dormitory in Ufa, Russia, left four Indian students injured after a 15-year-old attacker went on a knife rampage. According to Russian media, the teenager shouted slogans related to the Holocaust during the attack. The assailant was subdued and detained by authorities, with reports suggesting possible links to extremist ideology. Two police officers were also injured while intervening. The Indian Embassy in Moscow confirmed the incident and said the injured students are receiving medical care, while consular officials are in touch with local authorities. India’s private space sector has made a strategic leap in space surveillance with Ahmedabad-based Azista Industries successfully imaging the International Space Station (ISS) from orbit using its 80-kg AFR Earth-observation satellite — a first for an Indian private firm. The satellite captured 15 clear frames at roughly 245–300 km distances, validating India’s indigenous tracking algorithms and electro-optical systems. This achievement enhances space situational awareness and marks a step toward observing other orbiting objects, potentially aiding defence monitoring. With over 50 Indian satellites now in orbit across varied applications, protecting and tracking assets is crucial amid rising global space competition. 

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has criticised the interim India-U.S. trade agreement framework, calling it a “total surrender” to U.S. agribusiness and a threat to Indian agriculture. SKM alleges the deal contradicts earlier assurances by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal that sensitive sectors like agriculture and dairy would remain protected, and demanded his immediate resignation while asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to refrain from signing the pact. Four Indian students were injured in a knife attack at a medical university hostel in Ufa, capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic, local media reported. The Interior Ministry said a teenager entered the dormitory sports hall with a knife and stabbed several students. Two police officers were also injured while trying to stop him. Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk said, “The attacker resisted arrest,” and also hurt himself during the struggle. Authorities have detained the suspect and started an investigation. Injury details are not yet clear. The Indian Embassy said it is monitoring the case. Consulate officials from Kazan are travelling to Ufa to support the students. (PC: India Today)

Writer and photographer Pepita Seth has become an Indian citizen at the age of 84, formalising her long bond with Kerala. She received the citizenship document from Thrissur District Collector Arjun Pandian at a ceremony on February 6. Known for documenting Kerala’s rituals, temples and art, Seth is often called the State’s “adopted daughter.” She said, “I feel immensely proud to become an Indian at the age of 84,” and called India her true home. Born in Britain, she settled in Thrissur and produced major cultural works on Kerala. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 2012 for her contribution to Indian art and heritage. (PC: The Hindu)

Manchester United owners the Glazer family have made a reported £1.3 billion ($1.8 billion) bid for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they renew efforts to enter the IPL. According to State of Play, the offer was placed through Lancer Capital, linked to Avram Glazer. The family are also in the race to buy Rajasthan Royals. Reports say they are among the top bidders from nine groups for RCB. The bid is not final and more rounds are expected. The Glazers earlier failed to secure IPL expansion teams in 2021.
