MCD Left ₹28 Crore Air Pollution Funds Unused, RTI Reveals Major Lapses

A Right to Information reply from the Central Pollution Control Board has revealed that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi left ₹28.77 crore of air pollution control funds unused over the last two years. The funds were given under the National Clean Air Programme. In 2023-24, MCD had over ₹35 crore but used only ₹5.19 crore. In 2024-25, it spent just ₹1.34 crore out of ₹30.86 crore. The RTI also showed that MCD did not hold regular monitoring meetings and delayed uploading progress reports on the air-pollution portal.
