On Friday, Narendra Modi was formally elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at a meeting in Samvidhan Sadan, following the Lok Sabha election results. With BJP's 240 seats and a total of 293 for the NDA coalition, the alliance fell short of a solo majority, relying on allies TDP and JD(U). Modi emphasized mutual trust within the alliance and reiterated their commitment to inclusive governance. Next, the NDA will meet President Droupadi Murmu to stake a claim for government formation. Modi is set to take his oath as Prime Minister for a third term on Sunday, June 9.
