S Jaishankar today took charge as the External Affairs Minister, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic third-term win. Jaishankar is among senior BJP leaders like Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Nitin Gadkari who retained their previous ministries. Prime Minister Modi will oversee the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the Department of Atomic Energy, and the Department of Space. New entrants to the cabinet include former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, assigned Agriculture and Rural Development, and BJP President JP Nadda, who has returned to the Health Ministry. A total of 71 ministers have been allocated ministries.
