Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi condemned the Modi government for alleged mismanagement of the Railway Ministry following the Kanchanjunga Express accident in West Bengal. At least 15 people died and around 60 were injured when a goods train collided with the passenger train. Kharge accused the government of prioritizing self-promotion over safety, calling it "utter mismanagement." Gandhi echoed these sentiments, blaming the rise in railway accidents on government negligence. They demanded immediate compensation for victims and criticized what they termed as a pattern of neglect in railway safety over the past decade.
