The Ratna Bhandar, treasury of the 12th-century Jagannath temple in Odisha's Puri, reopened on Sunday afternoon after 46 years. An 11-member committee, including former Orissa High Court judge Biswanath Rath and SJTA chief administrator Arabinda Padhee, entered the treasury. The Ratna Bhandar holds precious ornaments of deities Jagannath, Subhadra, and Balabhadra, donated by devotees and kings. The last inventory was done in 1978. Snake catchers were present due to fears of snakes inside. Three SOPs were made for the reopening, temporary management, and inventory of valuables. A digital catalogue of the treasures will be prepared later.
