Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the elevation of Justices N Kotiswar Singh and R Mahadevan to the Supreme Court on Tuesday. Justice Singh, previously the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, will be the first judge from Manipur to serve on the Supreme Court. His appointment marks a significant milestone in representation for the northeastern region. Justice Singh has had a distinguished career, serving on the Gauhati High Court and later being transferred to the Manipur High Court. His experience and expertise will be valuable additions to the Supreme Court.
