India’s table tennis veteran Sharath Kamal was defeated by Slovenia's Deni Kozul 2-4 (12-10, 9-11, 6-11, 7-11, 11-8, 10-12) in the men's singles round of 64 at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 42-year-old, making his fifth Olympic appearance, faced a tough match that lasted 53 minutes against the player ranked 126th in the world. Despite winning the first game, Kamal lost the next three, managed to clinch the fifth game, but ultimately fell in the sixth. Meanwhile, India's top-ranked table tennis player, Sreeja Akula, advanced to the round of 32 with a decisive 4-0 victory over Sweden's Christina Kallberg.
