Indian table tennis player Harmeet Desai's Olympic debut ended in a straight games defeat to World No. 5 Felix Lebrun of France in the Round of 64. Despite a strong start, Harmeet, ranked 86th, couldn't match the speed and skill of the 17-year-old Frenchman, losing 8-11, 8-11. Harmeet's campaign started promisingly with a preliminary round win, but Lebrun's powerful forehand and home crowd support proved too much. Earlier, India's senior paddler Sharath Kamal also exited the tournament in a shock result.
