58-Year-Old Zeng Zhiying Makes Olympic Debut in Table Tennis

Zeng Zhiying, a 58-year-old table tennis player from Chile, made her Olympic debut at the Paris Games, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Born in China, Zeng represented her birth country as a young player before retiring and moving to Chile. She resumed playing during the pandemic and quickly rose through the ranks. Despite losing 4-1 to Lebanon's Mariana Sahakian in the preliminary round, Zeng called the experience "rewarding." With support from Chilean fans, Zeng said she "gave her best" and was proud to have made it to the Olympics after a 30-year hiatus from the sport.
