Wayanad Landslides Claim 289 Lives, Schools Closed in Six Districts

Massive landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, have resulted in 289 deaths and over 200 injuries, with 220 still missing. Heavy rains caused three landslides, devastating Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha villages. The Army has rescued around 1,000 people, and a Command Centre is set up in Kozhikode. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan held an all-party meeting to coordinate efforts and prevent disease outbreaks. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi visited the affected areas. The IMD predicts more rain, with a red alert for several districts.
