Heavy rainfall has led to significant waterlogging on the runway at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. The downpour, caused by a deep depression over Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal, also affected areas like Howrah, Salt Lake, and Barrackpore. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) expects the rain to continue throughout the day, with a yellow alert issued for Gangetic West Bengal and an orange alert for northern districts. Despite ankle-deep water in parts of Kolkata, traffic remains unaffected. Some regions have already received up to 7 cm of rain since Friday afternoon.
