The toll from the July 31 Uttarakhand cloudburst has climbed to 17, with one body recovered on August 4. The disaster severely damaged the Kedarnath trek route, stranding over 1,000 pilgrims. More than 9,000 have been evacuated so far. Rescue efforts, involving 882 personnel and the Indian Army, continue despite heavy rainfall forecasts extending until August 8. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has called for urgent restoration of the damaged routes. Pilgrims are advised to remain at their locations until the route is fully repaired.
