In a dramatic turn at the Paris Olympics, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the women's 50kg freestyle final for exceeding the weight limit by just 100 grams. Despite enduring a sleepless night and extreme measures, including refraining from food and water and cutting her hair, Phogat could not meet the 50kg limit. The Indian Olympic Association confirmed her disqualification and requested privacy for Phogat, who fainted from dehydration and is now resting in the Olympic Village's polyclinic. Phogat’s dramatic weight loss attempt failed to secure her a place in the gold medal bout.
