Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya addressed the Lok Sabha, stating that the government provided Vinesh Phogat with every possible assistance, including personal staff. Despite these efforts, Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics for being 100 grams overweight. Mandaviya explained, "Her weight was found to be 50.1 kg, making her ineligible." Phogat, who made history as the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final, was unable to compete due to this discrepancy. The Indian Olympic Association has lodged a strong protest, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for appropriate action.
