Vinesh Phogat's uncle and mentor, Mahavir Phogat, has urged her to reconsider her decision to retire from wrestling following her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024 final. Vinesh, who was disqualified for missing the 50kg weight limit by 100 grams, announced her retirement in disappointment. Mahavir believes her decision was made in a moment of frustration and plans to encourage her to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He, along with other wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, will support her return. Meanwhile, Vinesh has appealed her disqualification to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), with a verdict expected soon.
