Prime Minister Narendra Modi has landed in Kalpetta, Wayanad, after an aerial survey of landslide-affected areas, including Chooralmala, Mundakkai, and Punchirimattom. Accompanied by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Modi will review relief efforts and visit hospitals treating the injured. The landslides have claimed over 200 lives, and Kerala has requested Rs 2,000 crore for relief. The PM’s visit comes amid calls for the disaster to be declared a national emergency and heightened scrutiny of the response efforts.
