West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has vowed to ensure swift justice in the murder of a 31-year-old female trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College. The Chief Minister directed the case to be sent to a fast-track court, stating the accused, who was arrested, would be hanged if necessary. The autopsy revealed the victim was sexually assaulted and brutally murdered. Banerjee also assured the victim's family of a thorough investigation and urged protesting doctors to continue treating patients while demanding justice.
