Following the murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, massive protests have erupted. The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has called for a nationwide medical strike in response to the sexual assault and murder of the 29-year-old doctor. AIIMS Delhi students joined the protests, and resident doctors from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu are on strike. The victim, found dead in the hospital seminar hall, had injury marks suggesting sexual abuse. A suspect, Sanjay Roy, was arrested; he had access to hospital areas through a civic volunteer role.
