Following the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor, RG Kar Medical College & Hospital's principal, Prof. (Dr.) Sandip Ghosh, resigned on Monday, citing defamation and emotional distress as a parent. The victim's semi-naked body was found in the hospital's seminar hall. Three junior doctors and one housekeeping staff have been summoned by Kolkata police for questioning. The initial post-mortem revealed severe injuries, including a broken neck. A man, not officially linked to the hospital, has been arrested. Hospital services across West Bengal remain disrupted as protests by junior doctors continue.
