Resident doctors across India called off their strike after Union Health Minister JP Nadda assured them of improved safety at work. The strike, which disrupted health services nationwide, was sparked by the recent murder of a female doctor in Kolkata. After a meeting with the minister, FORDA President Aviral Mathur stated that a committee, including FORDA representatives, would be formed to address their safety concerns. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) also supported the strike, demanding hospitals be declared safe zones. The Calcutta High Court has transferred the investigation of the murder case to the CBI.
