Omar Abdullah Raises Concerns Over J&K Election After Police Reshuffle

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah expressed concerns about the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election being conducted in three phases, the first since 1987-88. Abdullah questioned the Election Commission’s decision to hold the election on September 18, 25, and October 1, especially in light of a recent large-scale police reshuffle in J&K. He urged the Election Commission to ensure free and fair polls and called for restoring security cover for mainstream political parties. BJP welcomed the election dates, citing confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership following the removal of Article 370.
