Twenty-Two Coaches of Sabarmati Express Derails Near Kanpur, No Casualties Reported

On Saturday morning, twenty-two coaches of the Sabarmati Express derailed near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The derailment occurred at 2:30 am, shortly after the train departed from Kanpur, near Bhimsen. The train came to a stop following a loud noise while passengers were asleep. North Central Railway (NCR) spokesperson Shashikant Tripathi confirmed that emergency teams, including police and administrative staff, responded promptly. All passengers were safely evacuated, with no casualties reported. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated the derailment was caused by the train hitting an object on the track. The route remains blocked, impacting services between Kanpur and Mumbai. The investigation is ongoing.
