The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will conduct a psychological assessment of Sanjay Roy, accused in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College. This move follows a nationwide 24-hour strike by doctors, organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), demanding justice for the victim and the implementation of the Central Protection Act. Despite the strike, essential services remained open while Out Patient Departments (OPDs) were closed. The IMA has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for intervention, amid growing outrage and calls for stricter laws to protect healthcare workers.
