Trinamool Congress leaders Kunal Ghosh and Sukhendu Sekhar Ray have clashed over whether Kolkata's Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal should be questioned by the CBI in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor. Ray, demanding the Commissioner’s custodial interrogation, criticized the initial police handling of the case and alleged mishandling of evidence. Ghosh defended Goyal, stating that the Commissioner had acted appropriately and that Ray’s demands were unfortunate. The Calcutta High Court had transferred the investigation to the CBI, citing lack of progress by the Kolkata Police.
