A woman resident doctor at Mumbai's Sion Hospital was assaulted early Sunday by an intoxicated patient and his relatives. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when the patient, injured and accompanied by five to six inebriated relatives, verbally abused, threatened, and physically attacked the doctor. She sustained injuries while defending herself, and the assailants fled the hospital. This assault happened amid nationwide protests over the rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor in Kolkata. A police case has been filed, and the medical community demands stronger measures to ensure the safety of healthcare professionals.
