The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered police departments across all states and union territories to provide law and order updates every two hours following protests against the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College. A special 25-member Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team is probing the case, focusing on the main accused, Sanjay Roy, and the college principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh. The MHA's directive, sent on Friday, aims to monitor the situation closely, with updates being sent via fax, email, or WhatsApp to the MHA control room in New Delhi.
