Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, Rakesh Pal, passed away in Chennai on Sunday after a heart attack. He was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital earlier in the day after feeling unwell. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed grief, praising Pal’s leadership in strengthening India’s maritime security. Pal’s 34-year career included key roles in the ICG, and he was known for his expertise in Gunnery. He had been the ICG Chief since July 2023. Pal is survived by his wife, Dipa, and their two daughters, Snehal and Tarushi.
