Vinesh Phogat’s appeal against her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024 was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on August 14. CAS released a 24-page verdict, explaining that Vinesh was disqualified for exceeding the 50 kg weight limit before the final. Despite her arguments about hydration, menstrual cycle, and travel time affecting her weight, CAS ruled that the rules were clear with no tolerance for exceeding the weight limit. The court rejected her plea for a joint silver medal, stating there was no basis to alter the rules. Vinesh has returned to India, uncertain about her future in wrestling.
