The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has assigned two senior women officers to lead the investigation into the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata. Sampat Meena, Additional Director of CBI, who previously led high-profile cases like the 2020 Hathras and 2017 Unnao rape cases, heads the 25-member team. Seema Pahuja, Additional Superintendent of Police, also involved in the Hathras case, is part of the investigation team. The brutal crime at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has sparked nationwide outrage, leading to protests by doctors demanding justice and better safety measures.
