The Supreme Court, led by CJI DY Chandrachud, sharply criticized RG Kar Hospital and the Bengal government for delays in filing the FIR after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor. "The autopsy revealed murder, yet the FIR was registered at 11:45 pm. What were the authorities doing?" the Court questioned. Setting up a national task force for doctors' safety, the Court stressed, "The nation cannot await another rape for action." The Court also questioned the reappointment of the hospital principal, calling for a CBI report.
