In Maharashtra's Thane district, a male cleaning staffer at a Badlapur school was arrested for allegedly molesting two three-year-old girls on August 12 and 13. The incident, which occurred in the girls' toilet, sparked widespread protests, with locals blocking trains at Badlapur railway station. The accused, Akshay Shinde, has been remanded in police custody for three days. Enraged parents also accused the local police of delaying the investigation, leading to the transfer of Senior Inspector Shubhada Shitole. The school principal and related staff have been suspended.
