Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is expected to become the next chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Current ICC Chairman Greg Barclay will step down at the end of his term in November 2024. Barclay announced his resignation during a video conference with ICC directors, including Cricket Australia’s chairman Mike Baird, after Shah indicated he had the support needed to succeed him. This transition occurs amidst a $3 billion media rights dispute between the ICC and broadcaster Star. Barclay has served as ICC chair since November 2020, with re-election in 2022.
