Diana Pundole has made history as the first Indian woman to win the national car racing championship. The Pune native clinched the title in the saloon category of the MRF Indian National Car Racing Championship 2024, held in Chennai. Pundole’s journey began eight years ago when she, then a teacher, was invited to compete in a national talent hunt among 200 women. After rigorous trials, she emerged as one of the top contenders. On Sunday, Pundole, a mother of two, secured the championship in a race featuring both men and women. Her victory, achieved on her birthday weekend, breaks gender barriers and sets a new milestone for women in Indian motorsports.
