The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will present a progress report today to the Supreme Court on the investigation into the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The case, which has triggered nationwide protests, was discussed by a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on August 20. The court criticized the West Bengal government for its handling of the case and for failing to prevent vandalism at the medical college. Additionally, the Bengal government is required to file a status report on the investigation into the vandalism.
