A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore, Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday. The Indian Army's Chinar Corps confirmed the elimination and recovery of war-like stores in an operation named OP WATARGAM. Security forces launched a search operation after an initial gunbattle with the terrorists. The area remains cordoned off as searches continue. This comes amid rising terror-related incidents in the Union Territory. Security has been tightened ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, the first since Article 370's abrogation in 2019, as security agencies increase their operations in the region.
