Kolkata Police civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, accused in the rape-murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College, faced a polygraph test on August 25. The test reportedly highlighted multiple false and unconvincing answers from Roy, who claimed the doctor was already dead when he reached the seminar hall. Despite his initial confession and assistance in reconstructing the crime scene, Roy has since denied involvement, alleging a frame-up. The CBI, examining inconsistencies in his statements and evidence, has sought court approval for further lie-detector tests on other suspects. Roy remains in custody.
