A rape of a minor in Ghaziabad on August 28 led to violent protests the following day. The accused, a scrap dealer, allegedly broke into the girl's home, drugged her, and assaulted her with accomplices. The girl was also reportedly beaten. Outraged locals, demanding the death penalty for the perpetrators, vandalised shops and set vehicles ablaze. Police have arrested one suspect, but residents are dissatisfied with the progress. Protestors gathered outside the Link Road police station, calling for stricter action and justice for the victim.
