On Day 1 of the Paralympics 2024 in Paris, Sheetal Devi set a new world record in para archery with a score of 703, only to be narrowly beaten by Turkey's Oznur Cure, who scored 704. Devi’s score surpassed the previous record, but Cure's final shot secured her top position. Indian archers Sarita and Harvinder finished 9th in their respective events. The day also featured a win for T. Murugesan and K. Nitesh in mixed doubles SL/GU, while Mandeep Kaur faced a defeat. India’s delegation of 84 athletes is competing across 22 sports.
