Severe flooding in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has claimed 19 lives, leaving over 17,000 people displaced. Triggered by relentless rain due to a low-pressure system, the flooding has disrupted roadways, leaving many areas cut off. The South Central Railway cancelled 140 trains, diverting 97 others, stranding 6,000 passengers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured both states of central support after speaking with the respective Chief Ministers. Relief operations are ongoing, with 26 National Disaster Response Force teams deployed. The meteorological department has forecasted more heavy rainfall in both states over the coming days.
