A Class 12 student, Aryan Mishra, was shot dead near Faridabad, Haryana, after being mistaken for a cattle smuggler by a cow vigilante group. On August 23, Aryan and his friends were chased for 30 km by five vigilantes who received a tip about cattle smugglers in the area. Despite warnings to stop, Aryan's friends continued driving due to a separate feud, leading the vigilantes to open fire. Aryan, seated in the passenger seat, was shot twice. Upon seeing two girls in the car, the attackers realized their mistake and fled. Five suspects have been arrested.
